Children in the Bhonga Schools.

On a trip to Thalasari we meet with Jesuits who were operating schools in the Brick Kilns.
BHONGA SCHOOLS FOR CHILD LABOURERS AT BRICK KILNS
These Schools are held in temporary structures built at the various
Brick Kiln sites in the fields. The Schools can start only after the end of the Monsoons when tribals start migrating together with their wives and children to various sites for work. These are full time Schools running from 10.30 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. The Government lends its full cooperation to the Bhonga Schools. At the end of the year they even take the examinations of the children . Official marksheets were given to the children and instructions are issued to all teachers to admit those who had passed, to the higher class. At the end of the Schools year, our teachers go round to all the villages from where the children came to ensure that they have been admitted to the higher class. This follow up yielded very encouraging results. After the Monsoons the Bhonga Classes will continue.
